Artica textile

The first offices in the textile sector to obtain the official Passivhaus certification

The new headquarters of Artica Textile, a company specialising in high-quality Jacquard fabrics, is an architectural proposal born from a radical shift in the concept of technological innovation, sustainability, and cutting-edge design that the company wanted to convey.

The main project focuses on the design of the new 600m² passive offices, spread across three floors connected by a double-flight staircase, creating a triple-height space that links them. The ground floor houses the executive, commercial, and administrative areas, along with meeting rooms. On the intermediate floor, there is a flexible exhibition space that allows the collections to be changed and adapted according to the season. The top floor features an open-plan workspace for the design team. The interiors are designed with Eco-Friendly materials, with a prominent use of wood.

On the exterior, a landscaped base gives the building a sense of lightness, situated in an industrial environment with a significant lateral slope on the plot. The main entrance is through a large staircase, which integrates with an exterior walkway to improve accessibility to the building.

The façade, which unifies the new extension with the existing building, is treated as a blank canvas reminiscent of the horizontal and vertical patterns of fabrics. This reference to the product is echoed in the detail and verticality of the exterior lattices and the fine railings, which resemble the threads of a loom. Inside, noble materials such as wood are used to convey tranquility and warmth to the workspace.

This office building is considered the first Passive building within the textile sector, one of the most important industrial sectors in the Valencian Community. It is certified by the Passive House Institute, providing external verification that its real, tangible performance meets the standards of a Nearly Zero Energy Building (NZEB), achieving the best airtightness test result in Spain with 0.1 air changes per hour.

Through the design, which is based on adapting to the building's internal load conditions on one hand and its bioclimatic location on the other, a reduction in energy consumption of over 90% has been achieved compared to similar constructions in the same climatic area, while providing a high level of comfort and well-being for its users.

For all these reasons, the project was recognised and selected in 2023 to be showcased at the XV National Passivhaus Congress as one of the buildings that best integrate design, sustainability, and energy efficiency in the office sector.
